eKYC using Chatbots

Ever since Prime Minister Modi has introduced the Digital India program, our country has seen many new initiatives being taken by the government to improve governance in the country and bring about reforms. Aadhar Card, a landmark initiative is fast becoming the primary way of identifying and verifying a person in India. Resultantly, there are many services that need Aadhar Card to be linked to them in order to avail them. We thus have a scenario where service providers have to deal with millions of requests on a monthly basis. Chatbots can save the day here and help automate this process bring down both the cost and human effort involved.

What is E-Kyc

eKYC is basically a service that allows a citizen with an Aadhar card to share his/her personal information & photograph in an auditable and secure manner online with an organization that has partnered with UIDAI. Some of the service providers in need of this service are airports, banks, telecom players and more.

How can Chatbots help?

Chatbots can play a role here and help automate this process thereby reducing the burden on businesses and other service providers. A chatbot can start off a conversation with a customer and during the interaction ask them to upload relevant documents as well as other details that may be needed. Once this step is complete, the bot can then upload the details to the database and also link the data to the relevant profile. This can all take place seamlessly without the need of human intervention. Agreed, that this is a straightforward process, however there may be certain issues which can then be escalated to a human representative when the need arises.
