It was next to impossible to diagnose a patient remotely before the arrival of the Internet of Things. But, as IoT has stepped into the Healthcare sector, a lot has been significantly improved in the daily treatments. Doctors can now easily diagnose patients remotely using the data collected from the sensors. Smart watches and bands have been developed which can easily gather the real-time data of the patients including their heartbeats, blood pressure, sugar level, etc. This data is then used by the doctor to know the healthcare conditions of the patient and accordingly the patient is diagnosed.
This diagnosis can even happen when the doctor is far away from the patient and the patient cannot reach the doctor immediately. This is beneficial for patients as well when they get aware of the diseases in the earlier stages only.
Wearable like fitness bands and wrist watches provides the patients' data related to their healthcare conditions. This data not only helps a patient to know about his well being on a daily basis but also inspires him to take the necessary precautions.
Apart from providing the Doctors the data related to the healthcare conditions of the patients, IoT also helps the Hospital staff to keep track of the medical equipments like wheelchairs, defibrillators, nebulizers and oxygen pumps. This data helps the administration staff of the Hospital to monitor the equipments and supply the necessary items when there is a shortage.
A lot of hospitals today, use IoT to manage the administrative activities in the hospital. From the various medical equipment to the various facilities that the hospital provides to the patients are remotely controlled by the administrative staff. A little break in the system is effectively analyzed by the staff using the data provided by the smart sensors in the systems and corrected in a short span of time. This has provided good healthcare service to the patients.
