AI is in a 'golden age' and solving problems once thought to be in the realm of science fiction, says Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos

With a warehouse equipped with over 45,000 robots, and a new drone delivery system, Amazon is pinning its future on artificial intelligence.

Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon has spoken this week about AI describing it as the 'golden age' of technology capable of solving problems in the realm of science fiction.

And while Bezos did not go into detail about his future plans to use AI at Amazon, he hinted that it is being used in 'literally hundreds of things' across the firm.

Bezos was speaking during a Fireside Chat at the Internet Association's annual gala in Washington, DC this week.

Describing artificial intelligence, Bezos said: 'It is a renaissance, it is a golden age.

'We are now solving problems with machine learning and artificial intelligence that were in the realm of science fiction for the last several decades.

'And natural language understanding, machine vision problems, it really is an amazing renaissance.'

Bezos added: 'There's no institution in the world that can't be improved by machine learning.'

He added that while developments like Alexa, Echo and Prime Air delivery drones were 'super obvious' examples of how Amazon is using AI, machine learning was being deployed across the company. Read More
